We are pleased to offer the following services at Animal Health Services:
Types of Pets Seen:
As Animal Health Services is a small animal facility, we excel in caring for dogs and cats. Unfortunately, we do not care for large animals or farm animals.
Our appointment book is computerized, which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Many people also utilize our convenient “drop-off appointment” option, and receive a phone call when their pet is ready to go home. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please contact us immediately. If possible, it is best to call before coming in, so that a staff member can best advise you on your particular emergency.
Wellness and Medical Care Options:
If you will be traveling out of town, having a “staycation”, or having your home remodeled, we are happy to care for your pets. We provide boarding for patients on a year-round basis. Boarding typically peaks around holidays, so be sure to plan ahead during these times of year. All boarders are kept in an indoor heated/cooled facility, and dogs are walked outside multiple times daily. Our technicians are able to administer your pet’s medications while here. We also day board for those working or busy families, that prefer to have their pets at home during the evenings.
During anesthetic procedures, all patients are monitored. Anesthesia monitoring equipment is able to be directly attached to each anesthetized patient. Technicians are also utilized to directly observe patients during procedures. Utilizing these methods is aimed at helping maintain the safety of your pet.
Dental procedures are performed on an outpatient basis. We are able to perform dental extractions as required and place oral stitches if necessary to promote healing. In more advanced cases, a gingival flap may need to be performed. Procedures are typically performed in the morning, allowing patients to return to their familiar surroundings the same day.
Digital radiography is utilized to enhance our ability to diagnose a wide variety of cases, making it easier to individualize your pet’s treatment plan. Digital imaging is a more detailed and efficient method of obtaining x-ray images that is more convenient for patients.
Animal Health Services of Columbus possesses a wide range of in-house testing capabilities. Bloodwork testing is a very important component of diagnostic testing. Bloodwork can be very useful in discovering clues to such things as hidden infections, or internal organ function (such as the liver or kidneys). Wellness testing is a great way to establish baseline information for pets that can be monitored for changes over time.
Emergency & Urgent Care
We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty during weekdays who are trained and equipped to handle urgent pet care needs. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and associated technicians working together to save a pet's life. Emergencies can include things such as accidental ingestion of rat poison, hit by car, and chocolate ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment, please do not hesitate to contact us immediately.
We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening. If you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment, our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.
